Global Accelerator:Scenarios

Last Updated:Apr 01, 2026

Global Accelerator (GA) is a global network acceleration service with flexible configurations for various scenarios. This page describes three common scenarios where GA provides network acceleration.

Accelerate online gaming

High latency, packet loss, and frequent disconnections degrade the gaming experience for players across regions. GA routes player traffic through the Alibaba Cloud access point nearest to the player, then forwards it over the internal network of Alibaba Cloud to the origin server—reducing end-to-end transmission time and eliminating jitter. GA provides players with consistent and smooth gaming experience.

This scenario is suitable for global gaming providers serving players in multiple geographic regions.

Connect branch offices to headquarters applications

Multinational corporations host applications and data in the countries where their headquarters are located. Branch staff and business partners in other regions face high latency and low transmission rate when accessing those resources. GA creates a dynamic, secure network between the head office and branch offices across multiple regions, improving transmission rate.

This scenario is suitable for multinational corporations with globally distributed workforces who need consistent access to centrally hosted systems.

Accelerate connections to global Internet applications

Internet connections are prone to high latency and packet loss, which degrades user experience. GA accelerates connections to global applications over the Internet using high-quality Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) bandwidth and the Alibaba Cloud global network.

This scenario is suitable for businesses running Internet-facing applications that serve users across multiple regions and require consistently low latency.
