Important Notice: BRN Validation Update for Malaysia e-Invoicing - Action Required by 1 August 2026

We are writing to inform you of an important update regarding Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) and Business Registration Number (BRN) validation for the MyInvois e-Invoicing system.

Background

The Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (IRBM/HASIL) has announced enhancements to strengthen taxpayer data accuracy and integrity within the MyInvois ecosystem. These changes aim to address inconsistencies in TIN and BRN data that may lead to validation gaps and mismatches with IRBM records.

Key Updates

Following the recent Software Development Kit (SDK) update, IRBM has implemented the following changes:

• Mandatory TIN-BRN Cross-Validation: TIN will be validated against the corresponding BRN via the Validate Taxpayer's TIN API
• Effective Date: 1 August 2026
• "NA" Value Restriction: The value "NA" will no longer be accepted in the BRN field, except for General TIN scenarios

Impact on Your Operations

Starting from 1 August 2026:

• All submitted invoices will undergo stricter validation checks
• Any mismatch between TIN and BRN may result in validation failures or invoice rejection
• Existing records using "NA" as BRN (except for General TIN scenarios) will no longer be compliant

Actions Required

To ensure uninterrupted business operations and full compliance, please take the following actions before 1 August 2026:

1. Verify Your BRN Information

• Ensure your Business Registration Number (BRN) is accurate and up-to-date (12 digits)
• Verify that your BRN matches your official registration with IRBM/HASIL and your basic information maintained in Alibaba Cloud

2. If your BRN has changed or is incorrect, update Your BRN in IRBM (HASIL) Records and maintain the consistency with your information in Alibaba Cloud

• Log in to the IRBM/HASIL portal and verify your BRN information is current
• If your BRN has changed or is incorrect, update it immediately in HASIL records
• Ensures consistency between: The BRN you maintained in Alibaba Cloud & The BRN maintained by IRBM in their official records.

3. Time Limit

• Complete all information updates before 1 August 2026
