Varnish Cache is now available as an app on Alibaba Cloud Marketplace!

Alibaba Cloud is the third largest global provider of Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and the largest in Asia Pacific, according to Gartner. Alibaba Cloud customers can deploy Varnish Cache to Alibaba Cloud’s 69 zones that are strategically located across 23 regions in the world.

Varnish Cache is, of course, the open-source reverse HTTP proxy used by millions of websites worldwide for web acceleration and content caching. You install it in front of any server that speaks HTTP and configure it to cache the contents, speeding up content delivery significantly (300 - 1000%!) and reducing backend server load by up to 99%. This means your web service can stay fast and online even during busy periods, providing an excellent web experience to your visitors at all times.

Varnish Cache benefits

The Varnish Cache instances on Alibaba cloud are pre-configured, making it easier and faster than ever to use. Using Varnish Cache in the cloud also means you don’t need to invest in hardware infrastructure or pay large upfront costs to benefit from:

High-performance, scalable internet operations. Deliver websites, APIs and video 300% faster with caching and an origin shield that helps your web service thrive under pressure.

Resilience and reliability. Reduce backend server load by up to 99%, for handling traffic spikes easily. It’s easy to load balance and scale caches to meet any traffic needs.

Versatility. Bring new simplicity to web operations with an all-in-one solution that includes a content cache, reverse proxy, load balancer, API gateway, web server, and SSL termination.

Predictable pricing. Only pay for the resources you use, with no hidden costs.

Put edge PoPs where you need them

Another great thing about Varnish Cache on Alibaba Cloud is that it lets you deploy Points-of-Presence (POPs) wherever you need them most, to ensure lightning-fast content delivery to your target audiences.

Total web service flexibility with customizable edge logic

A key feature of Varnish Cache is its built-in edge computing logic, called Varnish Configuration Language, or VCL. This lets you customize your caching setup to suit your exact requirements and exceed your expectations. VCL helps you write policies that dictate how incoming and outgoing requests, cached objects and data retrieved from the origin server are handled and lets you optimize fully. You can also extend Varnish Cache capabilities with additional modules (VMODS).

Varnish Cache is open-source and support can be found in community documentation, IRC channels and forums. https://www.varnish-cache.org/support/
