Nanometals Technology Wins 2018 Create@Alibaba Cloud Startup Contest

Over 60 teams from across the globe presented innovative solutions at the Hangzhou grand final

Hangzhou, China, November 19, 2018 – Macau-based Nanometals Technology won the global championship of the Create@Alibaba Cloud Startup Contest (CACSC) at the grand final held in Hangzhou. At the event, 63 teams from around the world presented their innovative ideas to impress the judges and shed light on an exciting digital future.

Known as the 'Olympic Games' for technology ventures, CACSC has held regional competitions since the beginning of this year in China and overseas markets across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and North America. Shortlisted contestants from 33 cities across 15 countries, including France, Turkey, Korea, the US, India and Singapore, were invited to the grand final. The finalists presented their innovative business ideas in front of the judges and potential investors, with a variety of solutions in fields ranging from big data, artificial intelligence and machine learning to biomechanics, smart healthcare and digital currency.

Nanometals Technology scooped the top prize with their innovative silver wire that is as thin as 20nm. The nano silver wire is an environmentally friendly material that can greatly increase product efficiency and lower manufacturing costs. It can be used in flexible displays, touch screens, smart window glasses, self-illuminating materials and other electronic equipments.

Hangzhou-based Thunders Data Tech and Shanghai-based DataGrand took the second and third prizes respectively in the highly competitive pitch, for their efforts to boost enterprise efficiency with high-tech solutions. Among other overseas winners, a Seoul-based startup, DoubleMe, took home the best performance award for their holographic capture technology.

Selected CACSC winners will be awarded up to US$50,000 worth of Alibaba Cloud product and service credits, and RMB600,000 worth of cash prizes from Hangzhou Future Science and Technology Park.They can also gain opportunities to co-brand with Alibaba Cloud, as well as to meet with venture capitalists.

Now in its fourth year, the CACSC supports numerous startups in the science and technology sector in China and across international markets. Last year, New York-based biotech startup HistoWiz grabbed the top prize.
