[Alibaba Cloud] [Database Backup (DBS)] [End of Free Offer for Manual Backup Feature]

The manual backup feature provided by Database Backup (DBS) can easily perform physical or logical backups for ApsaraDB instances, and the storage capacity used by this feature is currently free of charge. However, the free offer will soon end and the storage cost of this feature will soon be counted, which may cause additional fees based on certain conditions. Please take note of this change.
Effective Date: 2022/09/14 00:00:00 (UTC+8) onward
Scope of Impact: RDS instances, MongoDB instances
Details of The Change: The manual backup storage cost will be calculated and you may need to pay for the backup storage on a pay-as-you-go basis if it exceeds the free quota.
Pricing Details:
Instances with different storage capacities and storage types have different quotas for free backups. For instances with cloud disks (Standard SSDs and ESSDs), the free quota is 200% of the total storage capacity at present, while for instances with local SSDs, the free quota is 50% of the total storage capacity at present. All backups including automatic backup, manual backup, log backup and data backup will be counted; if the total storage consumed exceeds the free quota, you will be charged only for the part that exceeds the quota in a pay-as-you-go manner. Affected Regions: Regions including China (Chengdu), China (Hohhot) and Singapore will start charging from September 14, 2022, and other regions will start charging from September 20, 2022.
In order to avoid unexpected charges due to exceeding the free quota, you can check all data backups on the console and follow these suggestions to decrease your backup storage consumption:
1. Delete manual backups
(Please note that this operation is not supported by all engines and in all regions, if you do not see the entry of it, please follow the next suggestion.)
2. Adjust backup retention days and backup frequency for automatic backup in Backup Strategy
