Elastic Compute Service (ECS) - Preemptible ECS Instance Released
Sep 18 2017Elastic Compute Service (ECS)
ECS now supports preemptible instances. Preemptible instances are on-demand instances that you can use before you pay for them. Preemptible instances offer steep discounts compared with pay-as-you-go instances to help reduce costs. Preemptible instances are suitable for short-term, interruptible workloads. The hourly prices of preemptible instances fluctuate with changes in supply and demand. When you create a preemptible instance, you must set a maximum hourly price to bid for an instance type. If your bid is greater than or equal to the market price (spot price) of the instance type and resources are sufficient, the preemptible instance is created. Alibaba Cloud ECS may terminate your preemptible instances based on changes in hourly prices or in supply and demand. Benefits: Preemptible instances are available at 50% to 90% off compared with pay-as-you-go prices, and allow you to achieve 2 to 10 times more compute capacity with the same budget. Features released: Preemptible instances are suitable for short-term, interruptible business, such as image rendering, big data analysis, video encoding, video decoding, batch processing, and stateless web services. Billing method: Preemptible instances are billed on a pay-as-you-go basis and offer significant savings compared with pay-as-you-go instances. When you create a preemptible instance, you must set a maximum hourly price to bid for an instance type. When a preemptible instance is created, the instance is billed at the current market price and the price cannot exceed your bid.
