The Jabatan Perlindungan Data Peribadi (JPDP) , an agency under the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), regulates the personal data protection in Malaysia. The Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA) has been passed by the Parliament on June 2, 2010 and came into force on November 15, 2013, setting out personal data protection framework for commercial transactions. JPDP has issued Public Consultation Paper No. 01/2020 – Review of Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PC01/2020) dated February 14, 2020 on the review of PDPA 2010.
In enforcing the PDPA, JPDP mandates all Personal Data User Group which consists of individuals or private parties officially to register for the purpose of protecting the rights of consumers and the public. Alibaba Cloud has registered with JDPD and complies with all PDPA requirements.
