:When you connect to an apsaradb for RDS instance using DMS, the system prompts "unable to log on to the database due to whitelist problems"

更新時間:Jun 10, 2026

If Data Management (DMS) returns an "unable to log on to the database due to a whitelist" error, the DMS service IP address ranges are missing from your ApsaraDB RDS instance whitelist. Fix this through the error dialog or by adding the IP address ranges manually.

Problem description

When you use Data Management (DMS) to connect to an ApsaraDB RDS instance, the following error appears:

unable to log on to the database due to a whitelist

Cause

The DMS service IP address ranges are not added to the ApsaraDB RDS instance whitelist.

Solution

In the error dialog, click Set all instances or Set this instance. The change takes effect within 5 minutes. If the connection still fails after 30 minutes, add the DMS IP address ranges to the ApsaraDB RDS whitelist manually. For more information, see Set IP whitelist.

Application scope

  • DMS

  • ApsaraDB RDS for SQL Server

  • ApsaraDB RDS for MySQL
