This topic provides answers to frequently asked questions about domain name renewal.

Am I able to renew expired domain names?

The domain names that belong to an Alibaba Cloud account can still be renewed at the normal price within 30 days (28 days for .hk domain names) after they expire. For more information about the detailed procedure, see Renew domain names.

If you do not renew an expired domain name, your website cannot be accessed. In most cases, the resolution of a domain name is disabled the day after the domain name expires. A renewal reminder appears if you attempt to access a website whose domain name has expired.

If a domain name is renewed within 30 days (28 days for .hk domain names) after the domain name expires, the resolution of the domain name can be resumed within a certain period of time. If the domain name is hosted by Alibaba Cloud DNS, the resolution is resumed within 24 hours after the renewal. If the domain name is hosted by a third-party DNS service provider, the period of time required to resume the resolution depends on the refresh time of the DNS service provider. In most cases, the resolution is resumed within 24 to 48 hours. For more information, contact the corresponding DNS service provider.

Why does the renewal price of a domain name fluctuate?

The renewal price of a domain name is subject to the price at the time of renewal. The renewal price of a domain name may be different from the initial purchase price due to reasons such as promotion activities for first-time purchase or price reduction for the domain name.

To view the renewal price of a domain name, perform the following operations: Log on to the Alibaba Cloud Domains console. On the Domain Names page, find the domain name that you want to renew. Click Renew in the Actions column to view the current renewal price. For more information about the detailed procedure, see Renew domain names.
