Log collector-related issues

  1. Can the log collector be installed on multiple ECS instances in a VPC?

    Answer: We recommend that you use multiple collectors to manage ECS instances in a VPC cluster, especially in a large cluster.

  2. Is the bandwidth used by the log collector charged after I install the log collector?

    Answer: Because the log collector uses the Intranet bandwidth, Alibaba Cloud does not charge the traffic consumed by the log collector.

  3. Does EDAS Agent must be installed on ECS instances where log collectors are installed?

    Answer: It is not necessary. However, we recommend that you install the log collector on ECS instances where EDAS Agent is installed.

  4. What happens if I do not install the log collector?

    Answer: EDAS services are affected. If the services cannot obtain data, all services related to views and call links become unavailable, which includes monitoring (basic monitoring and service monitoring), alert, call link, and resizing.

  5. The "setup sproxy failed" message constantly displays at the last phase of installation. Does the installation really fail?

    Answer: Script installation only simply checks whether connection is set up. However, a long latency exists between the startup and set-up of a module. Therefore, this problem occurs. We recommend that you manually check whether Port 8000 is successfully set up one minute after installation.

  6. What systems support the log collector?

    Answer: Currently, EDAS only supports ECS instances that run on a 64-bit CentOS 6.5/7.0/7.2 operating system or a 64-bit Ali-Linux 15.1 operating system.

  7. I cannot query VPC environment call links, and monitoring data is blank.

    Answer:

    • Call links and monitoring data generate only when access request traffic exists. If no customer accesses the website, no curve is generated.
    • Ensure Port 8182 is enabled on the ECS instance. Run netstat -antp|grep 8182 to check whether the port is enabled.
