This topic describes how to create cloud-integrated volume.

Step 1: Navigation

  1. Access http://management IP address through a browser.
  2. Workflow > Create Cloud-Integrated Volume > Run

Step 2: Select a device

Select a connected device from the drop-down menu.

Step 3: Create a volume

  • Storage pool: Select the existing storage pool that is mapped with the cloud bucket. Note that the selected storage pool cannot be connected to any cloud provider.

  • Volume name: Enter a volume name.

  • Volume size: Specify the volume size and unit. If thin provisioning is enabled, the total size of the volume can exceed the size of the storage pool (The minimum size of a volume is 10GB).

  • Enable cloud tiering mode: If you configure the cloud volume to cloud tiering mode, the cloud bucket becomes the lowest storage tier. Less frequently accessed data is moved to the cloud when the cloud volume reaches capacity threshold.

  • Enable cloud cache mode: Configures the cloud volume to cache mode. All data in the volume is refreshed to the cloud as scheduled.

  • If full cache mode is enabled, all data is stored in cloud buckets and local cloud volumes after the refresh task is complete. If you disable full cache mode, all data is stored in the cloud bucket after the refresh task is complete. However, only the data that is frequently accessed and read is stored in the local cloud volume. All data is stored in the cloud after the most recent refresh task if full cache mode is enabled or not enabled. If necessary, you can recover data from the most recent snapshot. You can also configure the refresh interval for the data refresh task.

  • Thin provisioning and minimum reservation space: To expand the storage space of the cloud bucket, thin provisioning of cloud-integrated volumes must be enabled.

  • Move the minimum reserved space bar to configure the percentage of volume capacity to be reserved.

  • Enable file system: You must enable this option before creating a folder on the volume.

Step 4: Create cloud cache

To create cloud cache and cloud tiering for a volume, cloud verification information must be provided to the system. The verification information is used to establish a new bucket and the mapping relationship with the volume.

The selected storage pool is mapped with the new cloud bucket. Enter the verification information. The verification information varies depending on different cloud service providers.
