Yes, the number of database shards in an ApsaraDB RDS for MySQL instance and the number of table shards in each ApsaraDB RDS for MySQL database shard are limited in a PolarDB-X 1.0 instance. The default number of database shards in a single ApsaraDB RDS for MySQL instance is eight and cannot be changed. Theoretically, the number of table shards in each database shard is not limited. The number is limited by the hardware resources of the PolarDB-X 1.0 server. The selected number of table shards varies based on the evaluated amount of business data.
