By default, you can apply for wildcard certificates, single-domain certificates, and multi-domain certificates in the Certificate Management Service console. You can bind up to five single domain names to a multi-domain certificate. After you purchase certificates, you can combine the certificates to apply for multi-domain certificates or hybrid certificates of the organization validated (OV) or extended validation (EV) type. You cannot apply for multi-domain certificates or hybrid certificates of the domain validated (DV) type.

Combine certificates after purchase

You can combine multiple certificates to apply for a multi-domain certificate or a hybrid certificate and submit a certificate application for the combined certificate. For example, you can combine multiple wildcard certificates and use the combined certificate to apply for a multi-domain certificate. You can also combine wildcard certificates and single-domain certificates, and use the combined certificate to apply for a hybrid certificate.

Make sure that the following conditions are met before you combine certificates:
  • OV or EV certificates of the same brand are purchased, and the certificates have a validity period of one year.
  • The certificates are in the Pending Application or Validation Failed state.
For more information about how to combine certificates, see Combine certificates.
