Last Updated:Oct 12, 2023

Overview

Database instances can use the diagnostic report function and obtain diagnostic reports through the autonomy service and DMS.

Details

Take note of the following items:

  • Before you perform high-risk operations such as modifying the specifications or data of an Alibaba Cloud instance, we recommend that you check the disaster recovery and fault tolerance capabilities of the instance to ensure data security.
  • Before you modify the specifications or data of an Alibaba Cloud instance, such as an Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instance or an ApsaraDB RDS instance, we recommend that you create snapshots or enable backups for the instance. For example, you can enable log backups for an ApsaraDB RDS instance.
  • If you have granted specific users the permissions on sensitive information, such as usernames and passwords, or submitted sensitive information in the Alibaba Cloud Management Console, we recommend that you modify the sensitive information at the earliest opportunity.

Access Instance Diagnostic Reports by Using Autonomy Service (CloudDBA)

  1. Log on to the RDS console. In the left-side navigation pane, click Instances and select the region where the target instance resides. Click the instance ID to go to the Basic Information page.
  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Autonomy Service > Diagnostic Reports. The Diagnostic Reports page appears.
    • Diagnostics has been performed: On the Diagnostic Reports page, click View Report to view the details of the diagnostic report.
    • If no diagnosis has been made:
      1. On the Diagnosis Report page, click Initiate Diagnosis.
      2. Select a time range and click OK to view the diagnosis report.
        Note:
        • The diagnostic report list can save the diagnostic records within the last 30 days. The data will be automatically deleted after the time is exceeded.
        • PostgreSQL 10.0 version cannot select the start time. By default, a diagnostic report of the current time is generated.

Use Database Autonomy Service to access instance diagnostic reports

  1. Log on to the Database Autonomy Service console, click Instance Monitoring, and click the ID of the target instance.
Note: If your instance is not found in the console, you need to access the database instance first. For more information, see Introduction to instance access.
  2. Click Diagnostic Reports in the left-side navigation pane to view existing reports. To perform diagnostics, click Initiate Diagnostics in the upper-left corner to generate a diagnostic report.

Use DMS to access an instance diagnosis report

  1. Log on to the RDS console. In the left-side navigation pane, click Instances and select the region where the target instance resides. Click the instance ID to go to the Basic Information page.
  2. Click Log On to Database in the upper-right corner of the page. On the Data Management Console page, enter the corresponding database information to log on.
  3. Right-click the instance and choose Performance > Diagnose. The Database Autonomy Service (DAS) appears.
Note: If you log on to DAS for the first time, you must authorize DAS.
  4. Click Diagnostic Reports in the left-side navigation pane to view existing reports. To perform diagnostics, click Initiate Diagnostics in the upper-left corner to generate a diagnostic report.
