Elastic IP Address cannot be bound to an ECS instance.

Problem description

Elastic IP Address (EIP) cannot be associated with an ECS instance.

Cause

Common causes of the issues are as follows:

  • The EIP and the ECS instance are not in the same region.
  • The ECS instance is not in the normal state. You can associate an EIP with an ECS instance that is in the running or stopped state.
  • The ECS instance is already associated with an elastic IP address.

Solution

Perform the following operations to locate the problem:

  1. Check the regions to which the EIP and the ECS instance belong. Make sure that the EIP and the ECS instance belong to the same region. For example, make sure that the EIP and the ECS instance belong to the same region. You can choose to migrate one of the resources to the same region if the resources are located in different regions.
  2. Log on to the ECS console that appears, and check the status of the target ECS instance. Ensure that the target ECS instance meets the following requirements:
