    Problem description

    When you release an EIP in the VPC console, the following error message is displayed.

    The instance cannot delete because of deletion protection

    Cause

    The associated EIP has been set to deletion protection, and the EIP cannot be released after the EIP is unbound.

    Solution

      You can cancel deletion protection for an instance by using the DeletionProtection API of the API, and then release the EIP. For more information, see DeletionProtection.

      Note: this issue may occur for elastic IP address, Internet shared bandwidth, and NAT gateway.
