Elastic Desktop Service:Overview

Alibaba Cloud Workspace helps you build a secure, enterprise-grade cloud office environment. It offers a streamlined and secure solution for internal application distribution, enabling centralized on-demand purchasing, management, and allocation. The platform supports diverse application types to accommodate various business scenarios. This topic describes how to use applications, providing a step-by-step guide for proper operation.

Usage process

If you enable the application feature in Alibaba Cloud Workspace, the available applications will appear in the Application Center on end user terminals. Authorized end users can then download and install these applications as needed.

Applications fall into the following types:

  • Free applications: provided by Alibaba Cloud with ISV authorization or directly by ISVs. These applications require no purchase or additional setup and can be directly assigned to end users.

  • Self-managed applications: uploaded manually by enterprises via the Elastic Desktop Service (EDS) Enterprise console and then assigned to end users.

  1. Upload self-managed applications.

    If free applications do not meet your needs, you can upload your own self-managed applications. For more information, see Manage self-managed applications.

  2. Assign applications to end users.

    By default, all end users have permission to download and install applications. However, you can restrict these permissions to specific end users if needed. For more information, see Assign and install an application.

  3. Install applications as end users.

    End users can download and install applications directly from the Application Center on their cloud computers.
