Elastic Desktop Service:Adjust the specifications of cloud computers

Last Updated:Apr 15, 2025

Cloud computer specifications typically include computing resources such as vCPUs, memory, and GPUs, which determine computer performance. You can upgrade or downgrade a cloud computer by adjusting these specifications to meet your business needs. This topic describes how to adjust them.

Background information

Adjusting a cloud computer's specifications only affects its computing resources, not its storage or user data. After an upgrade or downgrade, you may be charged extra or refunded the price difference.

The following table describes the limits when you adjust cloud computer specifications.

Billing method

Operation

Limits

All

All

  • You can only change specifications between cloud computers of the same type—not between Office-based and Graphics-based cloud computers.

  • A cloud computer's specifications include a fixed set of configuration items. Changing the specifications updates all items at once—individual items cannot be adjusted separately.

  • Wait at least 5 minutes before changing the same cloud server's specifications.

Monthly subscription (unlimited computing plans)

Upgrade

  • You will be charged for the price difference between the original and new specifications for the remaining days in the current billing cycle.

  • If you renew or downgrade a cloud computer during the current billing cycle, you cannot upgrade it until the next cycle begins.

Downgrade

  • You can downgrade a cloud computer up to three times each month. Once this limit is reached, further downgrades are blocked until the quota resets on the first day of the next month.

  • Refund calculation: Refundable amount = Remaining duration × (Price difference/Total duration) Note: The final refund amount shown on the refund page will apply. Refunds are issued to the original payment method used at purchase. Note that consumed coupons are non-refundable.

    Note

Remaining duration is the effective subscription period left before your cloud computer is downgraded. Price difference is the cost difference between the original and new specifications.

Monthly subscription (120-hour, 250-hour, or 360-hour plans)

All

  • The upgrade/downgrade feature for cloud computers on the 120, 250, or 360 hours/month plans is in invitational preview. To access it, submit a ticket to enable the feature.

  • For monthly subscription cloud computers, you can switch between the 120-hour, 250-hour, or 360-hour plans, but you cannot upgrade from a limited-hour plan to an unlimited plan.

  • To upgrade or downgrade your monthly subscription cloud computers, you must cancel your current plan and place a new order with the updated specifications. You may be eligible for a refund but could incur new charges.

    Important

Before canceling your subscription, ensure all important data is saved and backed up, as unsubscribed cloud computers will be released.

Prerequisites

  • The cloud computers whose specifications you want to adjust are in the Stopped state. For more information, see Start, stop, restart, or release a cloud computer.

  • Before adjusting cloud computer specifications, ensure there are no pending orders. If you have pending orders, perform the following steps:

    • Click Expenses in the top navigation bar to go to the Expenses and Costs page.

    • Click Orders in the left-navigation pane and complete the payments or cancel your pending orders.
