The ApsaraVideo VOD acceleration service supports both pay-by-data-transfer and pay-by-bandwidth metering methods. You can change to the method that best suits your business needs. This topic describes how to change the metering method and when the change takes effect.
Metering methods
For ApsaraVideo VOD, you can change the metering method only for the acceleration service. The acceleration service supports two metering methods that you can switch between.
To use the pay-by-bandwidth method, you must submit a ticket or contact your Alibaba Cloud business representative to activate it.
-
Pay-by-data-transfer (Default): You are charged for the total monthly outbound traffic based on a tiered pricing model for each region. This method is ideal for services with fluctuating traffic, occasional bandwidth peaks, and a daily bandwidth utilization of less than 30%.
NoteTo protect your service from unexpected costs caused by malicious traffic, the default bandwidth limit for the pay-by-data-transfer method is 10 Gbps.
-
Pay-by-bandwidth: You are charged based on the daily or monthly peak bandwidth. This method is suitable for services with stable traffic and a daily bandwidth utilization of more than 30%, or for services with high traffic volumes and unpredictable traffic peaks.
Prerequisites
To use the acceleration service, you must configure an accelerated domain name. For more information, see Add an accelerated domain name.
Limitations
You can change the metering method again only after the current change takes effect.
Procedure
By default, the acceleration service uses the pay-by-data-transfer method. If you want to change to the pay-by-bandwidth method, or if you need more information about its billing rules and pricing, submit a ticket or contact your Alibaba Cloud business representative.
After your request is processed, the system applies the new configuration. This update takes 1 to 10 minutes to complete.
