Last Updated:Aug 24, 2023

This topic describes how to manage idle instances to save costs.

  1. Log on to the VPC console.
  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose O&M and Monitoring > Idle Instances.

  3. On the Idle Instance page, you can view idle instances such as idle elastic IP addresses (EIPs) and idle EIP bandwidth plans. You can also set notifications for idle instances.

    • Manage idle instances

      1. In the Resource Type section, select a resource type to view corresponding idle instances.

      2. You can release, delete, or manage the idle instances.

      Note

You cannot release instances that use the Subscription Charge Type.

    • View idle instances

You can view instances that have been idle for 3 days, 7 days, or 14 days.

In the Resource Type section, select a resource type. In the instance list, you can view the information about an idle instance such as the region, the billing method, and the reason why the instance has been idle.

    • Set notifications for idle instances

      1. In the upper-right corner of the page, click Set Alert for Idle Status.

      2. In the Set Alert for Idle Status dialog box, turn on Alert for Idle Status, set Idle Duration (Day), and then click OK.

        Note

The system can send notifications for only idle EIPs.
