This topic describes how to manage idle instances to save costs.

  1. Log on to the VPC console.
  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Maintenance & Monitoring > Idle Instance.
  3. On the Idle Instance page, you can view and manage idle instances such as idle elastic IP addresses (EIPs) and idle EIP bandwidth plans. You can also specify the system to send notifications when instances are idle.
    • Manage idle instances
      1. In the Resource Type section, click the cloud resource that you want to view. In the instance list section, find the instance that you want to manage.
      2. You can release or delete the instance, or manage the resources of the instance.
      Note If the instance uses the Subscription Charge Type, you cannot release the instance.
    • View idle instances

      You can view instances that have been idle for 3 days, 7 days, or 14 days.

      In the Resource Type section, click the resource that you want to view. In the instance list section, you can view the following information about the idle instance: the region, the billing method, and the reason why the instance is idle.

    • Set notifications for idle instances
      1. In the upper-right corner of the page, click Set Alert for Idle Status.
      2. In the Set Alert for Idle Status dialog box, turn on Alert for Idle Status, set Idle Duration (Day), and then click OK.
        Note The system can send notifications for only idle EIPs.
