Split billing allows you to reallocate cloud resource costs based on your internal management, analysis needs, or resource granularity. The resulting split bill details provide a more granular view of expenses, making it ideal for enterprise-level cost allocation and financial reporting. Final split bill data for the current month is generated at midnight on the fourth day of the following month. Data queried before this time is for reference only and is not intended for reconciliation.
How split billing works
For certain cloud products like Content Delivery Network (CDN) and Object Storage Service (OSS), the billing granularity in the original Bill Details does not match the resource management granularity (such as domain name or bucket). To address this, Alibaba Cloud's Split Bill Details feature automatically splits these costs based on the actual resource level.
In the split bill, the Attached Resource ID corresponds to the product's fine-grained resource.
Example:
OSS: Billing granularity is by region; resource management granularity is by bucket.
During splitting, region-level costs are broken down into bucket-level entries.
The
Attached Resource IDfield shows the specific bucket name.
Advanced configuration options
You can further refine cost allocation using:
Cost centers
Cost allocation tags
Resource groups
After assigning resource costs based on these configurations, you can view costs across different dimensions in the split bill.
When both the product instance and its corresponding attached resource have tags or resource groups configured, the split bill will use the configuration from the attached resource (such as EIP, bucket, or domain) for final allocation.
Example:
Shared Bandwidth (Pay-as-you-go) instance has tag A.
Its attached EIP has tag B.
→ The split bill will be allocated based on tag B (from the EIP).
