Time Series Database:Create a TSDB instance

Last Updated:Mar 28, 2026

Time Series Database (TSDB) instances run inside a virtual private cloud (VPC). This topic walks you through creating a TSDB instance from the TSDB console.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure that you have:

  • A VPC and a vSwitch in the region and zone where you plan to create the instance. TSDB instances can only be created inside a VPC. If no VPC exists, log on to the VPC console to activate VPC, and then create a VPC and a vSwitch in the target region and zone.

Create a TSDB instance

  1. Log on to the TSDB console.

  2. On the Instances page, click Create in the upper-right corner.

  3. On the buy page, configure the following parameters.

    Billing

    ParameterDescription
    Product typeSelect a billing method:
- Time Series Database for TSDB (Subscription): Pay upfront for a fixed term. Longer terms give larger discounts. Choose this for long-term, stable workloads.
- Time Series Database for TSDB (Pay-as-you-go): Pay per hour based on actual usage. Choose this for short-term or variable workloads. Release the instance when it is no longer needed to stop billing.

Note

You can switch from pay-as-you-go to subscription, but not from subscription to pay-as-you-go.

Subscription period*(Subscription only)* Select a term length. Enable auto-renewal to avoid manual renewals and prevent service interruptions from overdue payments.

    Instance configuration

    ParameterDescription
Version*(Subscription and Pay-as-you-go only)* Select Cluster Edition.
Storage type*(InfluxDB® only)* Select a disk type: PL1 ESSD, SSD Cloud Disk, or High-Performance Cloud Disk.
RegionThe region where the instance is created. This cannot be changed after creation. Select the region closest to your users for lower latency. Place the instance in the same region as your ECS instance to use the internal network — cross-region connections require the Internet and reduce performance.
ZoneA zone is an isolated physical location within a region.
    Network typeVPC network only.
Virtual Private Cloud (VPC)Select the VPC for the instance.
vSwitchSelect the vSwitch that belongs to the selected VPC.
Instance specificationsSelect an instance type based on your workload requirements.
Storage spaceSet the storage capacity for the instance.
Instance nameA custom name for the instance. Must be 1–128 characters and start with a letter.
QuantityThe number of instances to create.
  4. Click Buy Now.

  5. On the Confirm Order page, review the order, select the service agreement check box, and click Pay.

  6. In the left-side navigation pane, click Instances to verify that the new instance appears in the list.

What's next

After the instance is running, you can connect to it over the VPC internal network or the Internet.
