Background information

Carriers of different countries or regions have different requirements on sender IDs. You may need to prepare a wide variety of documents. To reduce your workload and improve the accuracy of documents, Alibaba Cloud SMS takes charges of the inquiry about the information required by the carrier, and the automatic rendering and typesetting of the documents. In the future, we will continue to optimize the sender ID registration.

Is sender ID registration required?

You can follow these steps to check the registration and compliance requirements for your recipient country/region.

1. Visit the Countries/Regions Supported by message service page, and find your recipient country/region. This table is for reference only and will be continuously updated. The specific rules are subject to the regulations of the message recipient country/region.

   This topic uses Afghanistan as an example to show you how to check whether sender ID registration is required.

   

2. On the country/region details page, check the Sender ID Pre-registration field. Yes indicates that sender ID registration is required for sending messages to this country/region, and No indicates that registration is not required.

Procedure

1. Log on to the SMS console. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Go Globe > SenderID.

2. On the Registration tab, click Register Sender ID to go to the Register Sender ID page.

   

3. The Basic Information required for sender ID registration varies by country/region. Provide the basic information as prompted.

   Important

   To facilitate carrier review, fill in the following content in English.

   1. Destination Country/Region: Select the country/region that will receive messages.

      After selecting the country/region, the system may estimate the time required for registration and provide relevant notes. Please pay attention to this information.

      

      Note: Because some countries/regions require paid sender IDs or have regulatory requirements for message compliance and user privacy protection, online registration through the SMS console is not available for countries/regions. In this case, after selecting the Destination Country/Region, contact your account manager for assistance according to the console popup prompt.

      If you see the popup shown in the image after selecting the recipient country/region, it indicates that the country/region you selected requires a paid sender ID. Please contact your account manager for offline registration. Countries involved include the following: Russia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Serbia, Kazakhstan.

      If you see the popup shown in the image after selecting the recipient country/region, it indicates that the country/region you selected cannot be registered through Alibaba Cloud. Please register by yourself according to the popup prompt. After successful self-registration, you can contact your account manager for configuration. Countries involved include the following: Singapore.

   2. Basic Information: The basic information varies depending on the selected Destination Country/Region. Make honest selections and fill in all required fields.

      

   3. SenderID: In this section, name your sender ID and enter sample messages.

      • SenderID: Enter the custom sender ID. The sender ID should be related to your company name or brand. It supports letters, numbers, and symbols. A combination of letters and numbers can be up to 11 characters, while pure numbers can be up to 15 digits. Chinese characters and other languages are not supported.

        You can click to add multiple sender IDs, up to a maximum of 20.

      • Sample Template: Provide a sample message you want to send. The message can be in any language.

        You can click to add multiple sample messages, up to a maximum of 20 per sender ID.

   4. After completing the information, click Submit.

4. For some countries or regions, after filling in the basic information for the sender ID, you also need to upload application documents.

   Important

   You must supplement the required registration documents promptly. Registration information will be automatically deleted if files are not uploaded within the 30-day validity period.

   1. Check the registration status: Check your submitted registration application in the sender ID list and perform relevant operations based on the registration status.

      

      • If the Status shows Documents To Be Rendered, wait for the documents to be rendered and check again.

      • If the Status shows Documents Rendered, you need to upload files.

      • If the Status shows Successful, no file upload is required.

      • If the Status shows Failed, please apply again.

   2. Confirm Basic Information: Click Upload Documents in the Actions column, and confirm whether the content you submitted is correct on the preview page that appears. If the information is correct, click Upload File at the bottom of the page. If an error is reported, re-submit the registration application.

      

   3. Add More Documents: Upload the required files as prompted on the Upload File page.

      If you need to upload authorization letters, download the authorization letter files according to the steps shown in the image, sign and stamp them, and then upload them in the file order. If you have other documents to supplement, upload them in the Other Documents section.

      Make sure to read the relevant prompts in the console and comply with the restrictions on file format, size, and order to avoid review failure.

      

5. Click Submit to complete the sender ID registration. You can check the review results in the sender ID list. After the review is approved, you can use the sender ID to send messages.
