This topic describes the cause of the "gnome-session is installed" error message that is reported when you use Server Migration Center (SMC) to migrate a Linux operating system. This topic also describes how to resolve the error.

Problem description

The "gnome-session is installed" error message is reported when a Linux operating system is being migrated by using SMC.

Cause

GUI software such as gnome-session is installed on the source server to be migrated, but Anolis OS does not support the GUI software.

Solution

We recommend that you perform the following steps to uninstall GUI software such as gnome-session from the source server to be migrated.

  1. Create a snapshot to back up data. For more information, see Create a snapshot for a disk.

  2. Uninstall GUI software such as gnome-session from the source server to be migrated.

  3. After the error is resolved, run the SMC client and retry the migration job. For more information, see Run the SMC client.
