Last Updated:Feb 13, 2026

Upgrade, temporarily upgrade, or downgrade your Smart Access Gateway (SAG) resources as needed.

Upgrades

Upgrade an SAG hardware instance or an SAG vCPE instance

Before you upgrade, note the following information:

Billing impact

Scenarios

  • You can only upgrade an SAG hardware instance to a higher bandwidth specification.

  • The maximum bandwidth for an SAG hardware instance is 500 Mbps. The bandwidth can be increased only in increments of 10 Mbps.

Upgrades for SAG hardware instances and SAG vCPE instances usually take effect immediately. However, the process may be delayed due to network issues. Wait a few minutes for the upgrade to complete.

When you upgrade an SAG hardware instance or an SAG vCPE instance, you must pay the price difference for the bandwidth upgrade.

Upgrade your SAG hardware instance or SAG vCPE instance if its peak bandwidth no longer meets your business requirements.

  1. Log on to the SAG console.

  2. In the top navigation bar, select the region.

  3. On the Smart Access Gateway page, locate the target instance and, in the Actions column, choose 更多图标 > Upgrade.

  4. On the Change Specifications page, change the Peak Bandwidth for the SAG instance, review and agree to the Terms of Service, and then click Buy Now and complete the payment.

Temporary upgrades

Warning

When a temporary upgrade expires, the bandwidth reverts to its previous, lower specification. This can cause transient disconnections and dropped packets because of bandwidth throttling. Proceed with caution.

Before you temporarily upgrade an instance, note the following information:

Limits

Effective time

Scenarios

Only SAG hardware instances and SAG vCPE instances support temporary upgrades.

A temporary upgrade to the peak bandwidth of an SAG instance usually takes effect immediately. However, the process may be delayed due to network issues. Wait a few minutes for the upgrade to complete.

The temporary upgrade feature is suitable for scenarios such as large-scale promotions or online operational activities during holidays. Use this feature to temporarily increase the peak bandwidth of an SAG instance. After the temporary upgrade expires, the SAG instance automatically reverts to its original bandwidth specification. The rules for temporary upgrades are as follows:

  • The minimum upgrade duration for a temporary upgrade is 5 days, and is billed hourly. Bandwidth takes effect immediately after payment, and the upgrade process does not interrupt your service.

  • When the SAG instance reaches the specified revert time, the bandwidth automatically reverts to the specification before the upgrade. The revert process does not interrupt your services. However, the bandwidth change from high to low may cause transient disconnections. Implement a reconnection mechanism for your backend applications.

  • The latest revert time that you can set is one day before the expiration date of the SAG instance.

For example, if your SAG instance expires at 00:00:00 on November 18, 2021, the latest revert time you can set is 00:00:00 on November 17, 2021.

Perform a temporary upgrade

  1. Log on to the SAG console.

  2. In the top navigation bar, select the region.

  3. On the Smart Access Gateway page, locate the target instance and, in the Actions column, choose More icon > Temporary Upgrade.

  4. On the Temporary Upgrade page, configure the Peak Bandwidth and Revert Time, agree to the Terms of Service, click Buy Now, and complete the payment.
