This topic describes how to use a custom image that has server configurations to create one or more simple application servers that have the same or higher configurations.

Prerequisites

A custom image is created. For more information, see Create a custom image.

Background information

Before you use a custom image to create simple application servers, take note of the following items:
  • The custom image can be used to create simple application servers only within the same region.
  • When you use a custom image to create simple application servers, the system disk size specified for the simple application servers cannot be smaller than the size of system disk data contained in the custom image. If the custom image contains data of a data disk, the data disk size specified for the simple application servers cannot be smaller than the size of data disk data contained in the custom image.
  • Before simple application servers are created from a custom image, do not perform the following operations. Otherwise, the servers fail to be created.
    • Delete the custom image.
    • Delete the snapshot from which the custom image was created.
    • Reset the operating system or replace the image of the simple application server from which the custom image is derived.
    • Release the simple application server from which the custom image is derived.
  • The created simple application servers cannot be reset after the custom image is released or deleted.

Method 1: Select a custom image on the Mirror List page to create simple application servers

  1. Log on to the Simple Application Server console.
  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Mirror List.
  3. Find the custom image that you want to use and click create swas in the Operation column.
  4. On the server buy page, configure parameters to create simple application servers.
    The Region and Image parameters are automatically set based on the configurations contained in the custom image. You need only to configure other parameters based on your business needs. The following table describes the parameters.
    Parameter Description
    Instance Plan The displayed default plan is based on the size of system disk data contained in the custom image. You can select a plan that provides higher configurations than the default plan. You are charged additional fees for outbound traffic over the Internet beyond the plan. For more information, see Pricing and Traffic pricing.
    Data Disk Optional. The data disk of the simple application server. You can customize the size of the data disk to have more storage space.
    Note If the custom image contains the data of a data disk, the default value of Data Disk is greater than or equal to the size of data disk data contained in the custom image.
    Subscription Time The subscription duration of the simple application server. You can select Auto-renewal to enable auto-renewal.
    Quantity The quantity of simple application servers that you want to purchase. The default value is 1. You can create up to 20 simple application servers at a time.
  5. Click Buy Now and follow the on-screen instructions to make payment.

Method 2: Select a custom image on the server buy page to create simple application servers

  1. Log on to the Simple Application Server console.
  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Servers.
  3. Click Create Server.
  4. On the server buy page, configure parameters to create simple application servers.
    The following table describes the parameters.
    Parameter Description
    Region The region where the custom image resides.
    Note Simple application servers in regions outside mainland China such as the China (Hong Kong) and Singapore (Singapore) regions uses international bandwidths. High network latency may occur when you access these servers from regions inside mainland China. For more information, see Regions and network connectivity.
    Image Click the Custom Images tab and select a custom image from the drop-down list.
    Instance Plan The displayed default plan is based on the size of system disk data contained in the custom image. You can select a plan that provides higher configurations than the default plan.
