Simple Application Server provides various plans that allow you to use data transfer quotas each month. Simple application servers can transfer data after the quotas are exceeded. You are charged for the excess data transfers based on the pay-as-you-go method. This topic describes how excess data transfers are billed and how the state of a simple application server changes if you have an overdue payment for the simple application server.
Overview of pricing for data transfers
- You are charged only for outbound data transfers from a simple application server over the Internet. You are not charged for inbound data transfers to a simple application server over the Internet.
- Outbound data transfers from a simple application server to another Alibaba Cloud service over the Internet use the data transfer quotas that are included in plans. If the quotas are exceeded, you are charged for the excess data transfers.
- You are not charged for data transfers between simple application servers in the same virtual private cloud (VPC).
Data transfer quotas
- The quota can be used only by the server and is not shared by other servers.
- Alibaba Cloud resets the data transfer quota for the server on the first day of each month. After the quota is reset, the server starts to calculate the data transfers for the month.
- When the quota usage exceeds 50%, 80%, or 95%, Alibaba Cloud sends you a notification.
Note You can view the quota usage in the Simple Application Server console. For more information, see View server details.
- Specific plans do not include monthly data transfer quotas. For example, a plan that contains 1 vCPU, 1 GB memory, 1 Mbit/s bandwidth, and a 20 GB standard SSD does not provide monthly data transfer quota. These plans provide only public bandwidth quota and do not put limits on your data transfers.
Excess data transfers
After the monthly data transfer quota in a plan is used up, excess data transfers from the server are billed on a pay-as-you-go basis and automatically paid for by using your default payment method. Payment and overdue payment for excess data transfers
Excess data transfers are billed on a pay-as-you-go basis. Excess data transfers are billed and paid for on the hour. Make sure that you have a sufficient balance in your Alibaba Cloud account to pay for excess data transfers. Otherwise, the payment becomes overdue, and Alibaba Cloud sends you a notification.
- Before the server expires, the server is stopped and disabled. You can enable the server after you settle the overdue payment.
- Fifteen days after the server expires, the state of the server changes to Disabled. When the server is in the Disabled state, all data is retained for a 15-day period. You must renew the server and settle the overdue payment to enable the server. If you do not renew the server within this 15-day period, the server is released and the data cannot be recovered. For more information, see Renew a server.
