After you share a custom image of a simple application server to Elastic Compute Service (ECS), we recommend that you copy the image in the ECS console. Then, you can use the copied image to create ECS instances or replace operating systems of existing ECS instances.


A custom image of the simple application server is shared to ECS. For more information, see Share a custom image.


  1. Log on to the ECS console.
  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Instances & Images > Images.
  3. In the top navigation bar, select the region where the simple application server from which the shared image is created resides.
  4. Click the Shared Image tab, enter the ID of the shared image in the search box, and then find the shared custom image.
  5. In the Actions column corresponding to the shared image, click Copy Image. In the dialog box that appears, configure the following parameters.
    Configure other parameters based on your requirements.
    • Destination Region: automatically set by the system.
      Note You can copy the shared image only to the region where the corresponding simple application server resides.
    • Custom Image Name: the name of the copied image. The name must be 2 to 128 characters in length and cannot start with a digit or a special character. It can contain letters, digits, and the following special characters: periods (.), underscores (_), hyphens (-), and colons (:).
    • Description: the description of the copied image. Use the default value. You can modify the description based on your requirements.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click the Custom Image tab, enter the specified Custom Image Name value in the search box, and then find the copied custom image.
