You have learned how to create an ApsaraDB for SelectDB instance, connect to the instance, and create databases and tables, and the key points in system architecture and database and table design. This topic helps you experience more features of SelectDB.
Migrate data
SelectDB is mainly used in data analysis scenarios, such as online high-concurrency reports and analysis, user profiling, behavior analysis, and log storage and analysis. In most cases, you need to import your historical business data to SelectDB for subsequent data analysis.
SelectDB supports a variety of import APIs and tools for data migration. The following table provides links to the best practices for migrating data from common data sources such as MySQL, Hive, StarRocks, and Doris to an ApsaraDB for SelectDB instance. If your data source is not in the following table, find a migration method based on your business requirements. For more information, see Import data and Data import tools.
Data source | Best practice |
MySQL | |
Hive | |
StarRocks | |
Doris |
Accelerate queries
SelectDB provides a variety of solutions for analyzing and optimizing SQL queries. This helps you accelerate queries and implement efficient data analysis. For more information, see Query acceleration.
Query data from external data sources
SelectDB supports federated queries to analyze data from external data sources such as data lakes, databases, and remote files for convenient and efficient data analysis. For more information, see Data lake analysis and Database analysis.
Update the kernel version of an instance
SelectDB supports kernel version updates. A kernel version update covers performance improvements, new features, and issue fixes. You can update the kernel version of an instance in the SelectDB console. For more information, see Update the kernel version of an instance.
Change the configurations of a cluster
If the configurations of your SelectDB cluster do not meet your business requirements, you can change the configurations in the ApsaraDB for SelectDB console. For more information, see Change the configurations of a cluster.
Manage resources
The resource management feature helps you use your resources more reasonably. SelectDB supports the following resource management schemes: multi-instance, multi-cluster, and workload group. For more information, see Resource management.
Apply for or release a public endpoint
SelectDB instances support virtual private cloud (VPC) endpoints and public endpoints. If your client and the ApsaraDB for SelectDB instance to which you want to connect reside in different VPCs, you must apply for a public endpoint for the instance and add the public IP address of your client to an IP address whitelist of the instance. This ensures network communication between the instance and your client. For more information, see Apply for or release a public endpoint.
Manage permissions
If you have created a database account or a cluster in an SelectDB instance, you can manage the permissions of the account or the permissions on the cluster. For more information, see Manage the basic permissions of users or Manage the permissions to access clusters.
