    ApsaraDB for SelectDB:Change the billing method

    You can change the billing method of an ApsaraDB for SelectDB instance based on your business requirements. You can change the billing method between pay-as-you-go and subscription.

    • Subscription: This billing method is suitable for scenarios in which you want to stably use the instance for a long period of time. You are offered lower prices for longer subscription durations.

    • Pay-as-you-go: This billing method is suitable for scenarios in which you want to temporarily use the instance or use the instance for a short period of time. You can release resources at any time to prevent unnecessary expenses. For example, you can use this billing method in the test phase.

    Change the billing method from pay-as-you-go to subscription

    Prerequisites

    • The billing method of your instance is pay-as-you-go.

    • The instance is in the Running state.

    • The instance has no unpaid subscription orders.

      Note

      If you change the billing method of an instance from pay-as-you-go to subscription, the system generates a subscription order. The billing method of the instance is not changed to subscription until you complete the payment. You can log on to the Expenses and Costs console to complete the payment or cancel the order.

    Billing

    • After you change the billing method from subscription to pay-as-you-go, the refund is returned by using the original payment method. For more information about the rules for calculating the refund amount and the flow of funds after a refund, see Rules for unsubscribing from resources and Refund destinations.

    • The system refunds the remaining amount of the subscription and stored-value cards. The amount of coupons and vouchers cannot be refunded.

    Impacts

    When you change the billing method of an ApsaraDB for SelectDB instance from subscription to pay-as-you-go, the workloads on the instance run as expected.

    Usage notes

    Each pay-as-you-go ApsaraDB for SelectDB instance is billed and paid by hour. To prevent downtime caused by overdue payments, make sure that your account balance is sufficient.

    Procedure

    1. Log on to the ApsaraDB for SelectDB console.

    2. In the top navigation bar, select the region in which your ApsaraDB for SelectDB instance resides.

    3. On the Instances page, find the instance and use one of the following methods to change the billing method of the instance:

      • Click More > Change to Subscription > Actions

      • Click the instance ID to go to the Instance Details page. In the Instance Status section, click Change to Subscription.

    4. On the ApsaraDB for SelectDB (Subscription) | Switch to Subscription page, configure the parameters to change the billing method.

      1. Configure the Duration parameter and view the value of the Expiration Date parameter.

      2. Read and select Terms of Service.

    5. Click Buy Now and complete the payment as prompted.

    Change the billing method from subscription to pay-as-you-go

    Prerequisites

    • The billing method of the instance is subscription.

    • The instance is in the Running state.

      Note

      If your subscription instance is locked due to expiration, you must renew the instance to unlock the instance before you change its billing method. For more information, see Renewal policy.

    • Make sure that the balance of your Alibaba Cloud account is sufficient. Otherwise, you cannot change the billing method of the instance from subscription to pay-as-you-go.

    Billing

    After you change the billing method of your instance from subscription to pay-as-you-go, a refund is returned based on the original payment method. For more information, see Rules for unsubscribing from resources.

    Impacts

    • When you change the billing method of an ApsaraDB for SelectDB instance from subscription to pay-as-you-go, the workloads on the instance run as expected.

    • If the billing method of an ApsaraDB for SelectDB instance is changed from subscription to pay-as-you-go, the billing methods of all clusters in the instance are changed to pay-as-you-go.

      Note

      The subscription billing method is more cost-effective than the pay-as-you-go billing method, and you are offered higher discounts for longer subscription durations. We recommend that you do not change the billing method of a subscription instance if you want to use the instance for a long period of time.

    Procedure

    1. Log on to the ApsaraDB for SelectDB console.

    2. In the top navigation bar, select the region in which your ApsaraDB for SelectDB instance resides.

    3. On the Instances page, find the instance and use one of the following methods to change the billing method:

      • Click More > Change to Pay-as-you-go > Actions

      • Click the instance ID to go to the Instance Details page. In the Instance Status section, click Change to Pay-as-you-go.

    4. On the ApsaraDB for SelectDB (Pay-as-you-go) | Switch to Pay-As-You-Go page, configure the parameters to change the billing method.

      1. Read notes on the page.

      2. Read and select Terms of Service.

    5. Click Buy Now and complete the payment as prompted.
