Serverless App Engine:Overdue payments and renewal

Last Updated:Jan 30, 2024

You must activate Serverless App Engine (SAE) before you use SAE. The system automatically deducts fees from the balance of your Alibaba Cloud account based on the payment method that you select. This topic describes the precautions and solutions for SAE overdue payments and renewal.

Causes of overdue payments

If the total value of your account balance, vouchers, and coupons within your Alibaba Cloud account is less than the payable amount, an overdue payment occurs in your account.

Handling of overdue payments

Overdraft protection enabled

Overdraft limit

Description

Within the overdraft limit

Your service is not suspended.

Overdraft limit exceeded

If you enable the overdraft protection feature, the system automatically deletes application instances seven days (7 × 24 = 168 hours) after the overdraft limit is exceeded.

Overdraft protection disabled

Duration of overdue payment

Description

No more than 7 days

If your account has overdue payments for no more than 7 days (7 × 24 = 168 hours), you can still use the existing applications and you are still charged for resource usage.

If overdue payments occur in SAE, you cannot deploy or perform scale-out operations on new instances. You also cannot deploy, restart, or change specifications for existing instances.

More than 7 days

If you do not settle the overdue payment within 7 days (7 × 24 = 168 hours), the system stops the services of SAE. All instances of the applications that you created in SAE are released.

To ensure business continuity, settle the overdue payment at the earliest opportunity.

If your application uses other Alibaba Cloud services or resources to transmit data, you are charged for using the services. For example, you are charged for networking, logging, and storage services.
