Templates are used to create stacks and serve as the blueprint for infrastructure and architecture. This topic describes how to create a template.


  1. Log on to the ROS console.
  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Templates > My Templates.
  3. On the My Templates page, click Create Template.
  4. In the Create Template dialog box, enter a Template Name and a Template Description, and then select a resource group from the Resource Group drop-down list.
    Note If you do not specify a resource group, the template is added to the default resource group. For more information, see Create a resource group.
  5. In the Tag section, click Add.
    For more information about how to add tags, see Create tags.
  6. Set Template Import Method.
    • Use URL: Enter the download URL of an existing template and click Extract JSON Content. The system automatically fills in the template content.
    • Enter Template Content: Enter the template content.
    • Sample Templates: Select a template from the Sample Templates drop-down list. The system automatically fills in the template content.
  7. Click OK.
