This topic describes the features of different ApsaraDB RDS for SQL Server versions. This information helps you choose an instance or check the features of an instance that you already have.

Note

ApsaraDB RDS for SQL Server is available in multiple versions, such as 2025, 2022, and 2019. Each version is available in several editions, such as Enterprise Edition, Standard Edition, and Web Edition. These editions differ in areas such as compute scale, high availability, parallel processing, performance optimization, data security, management and developer tools, and data warehousing. The features of ApsaraDB RDS for SQL Server may differ from the features offered by Microsoft.
Serverless instances support only SQL Server 2016 Standard Edition, 2017 Standard Edition, and 2019 Standard Edition.
Basic series instances of Standard Edition are supported only in regions outside China.
