ApsaraDB RDS:ApsaraDB RDS instances running SQL Server 2008 R2 with local disks no longer support VPC

Background information

To improve user experience and ensure stability and performance, ApsaraDB RDS instances that run SQL Server 2008 R2 with local disks will no longer support virtual private cloud (VPC) starting from November 1, 2024. If your RDS instances run SQL Server 2008 R2 with local disks and use the VPC network type, we recommend that you upgrade the major engine version of your RDS instances to SQL Server 2012 or 2016 to ensure the stable running of your applications and business and avoid potential risks. Existing RDS instances

If you continue to use existing RDS instances that run SQL Server 2008 R2 with local disks, your applications and business may be exposed to risks.

We recommend that you upgrade the major engine version of your RDS instances that run SQL Server 2008 R2 with local disks and use the VPC network type to SQL Server 2012 or 2016. New RDS instances

RDS instances that run SQL Server 2008 R2 with local disks can no longer be purchased.
