Billing rules
ApsaraDB RDS includes a free quota for the I/O performance burst feature. Usage that exceeds the free quota is charged on a pay-as-you-go basis. For billing details and calculation examples, see I/O performance burst billing.
For existing instances with the I/O performance burst feature enabled:
Free quota retained: Usage within the free quota remains free of charge.
Pay-as-you-go for excess usage: Usage that exceeds the free quota is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.
To avoid charges, disable the feature. If your workload has large traffic fluctuations or frequent traffic peaks, keep the feature enabled — it allows IOPS to exceed the maximum limit for higher I/O capacity during sudden traffic spikes.
Potential impact
Instance type | Impact |
Existing instances with I/O performance burst enabled | The feature is not automatically disabled. Keep it enabled or disable it based on your workload. |
New instances | The feature is disabled by default. Enable it manually if your workload requires burst I/O capacity. |
