ApsaraDB RDS:Convert a pay-as-you-go instance to a subscription instance

Impact

This operation does not affect the running instance.

Precautions

• If you upgrade the instance type of an instance that has an unpaid order for conversion to the subscription billing method, the order becomes invalid. You must first go to the Order Management page to cancel the order. Then, you can convert the billing method again.

• If the conversion from pay-as-you-go to subscription crosses the top of the hour, the instance is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis for the hour in which the conversion starts. The subscription billing starts from the next hour.

  For example, if the conversion process for an instance starts at 09:55 and is complete at 10:10, the instance is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis for the 09:00 to 10:00 period. The subscription billing starts at 10:00.

  Note

  • Pay-as-you-go resources are billed hourly. Your bill may be delayed. You can check the bill later.

  • Start the conversion 15 or 30 minutes before the top of the hour.

Procedure

1. Log on to the RDS console. In the navigation pane on the left, click Instances. In the top navigation bar, select a region.

2. Find the target instance and go to the Convert to Subscription page in one of the following ways:

   • In the Billing Method column, click Convert to Subscription.

   • Click the instance ID. In the Running Status section, click Convert to Subscription next to Billing Method.

3. Select a Subscription Duration and click Confirm Order.

   Note

   The system generates an order for the conversion. If this order remains unpaid or is canceled, you cannot purchase new instances or convert the billing method of other instances. Go to the Order Management page to pay for or cancel the order.
