ApsaraDB RDS:Switch from pay-as-you-go to subscription

Last Updated:Jun 03, 2026

Change the billing method of an ApsaraDB RDS for MySQL instance from pay-as-you-go to subscription.

Prerequisites

Impact

This operation does not affect instance workloads.

Usage notes

  • If an instance has an unpaid Switch to Subscription order and you upgrade the instance type, the order becomes invalid. Void the order on the Billing Management page, then switch to subscription again.

  • If the billing change crosses an hour boundary, the hour before the boundary is billed as pay-as-you-go and subscription billing starts from the boundary.

For example, if the switch starts at 09:55 and completes at 10:10, the 09:00–10:00 period is billed as pay-as-you-go and subscription billing begins at 10:00.

    Note
    • Pay-as-you-go bills are generated hourly and may be delayed.

    • Start the billing change 15–30 minutes before the hour to ensure a smooth transition.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the ApsaraDB RDS console. In the left-side navigation pane, click Instances. In the top navigation bar, select the region of your instance.

  2. Find the target instance and navigate to the Switch to Subscription Billing page by using one of the following methods:

    • In the Billing Method column, click Change to Subscription.

    • Click the instance ID. In the Status section, click Change to Subscription to the right of Billing Method.

  3. Select a Duration and click Pay Now.

    Note

The system generates a Switch to Subscription order. If the order is not paid or is voided, you cannot purchase new instances or switch to subscription. Pay or void the order on the Billing Management page.
