Quick BI:Dataset Filling

Last Updated:Dec 25, 2025

This topic describes the process for creating and managing dataset filling, which encompasses cell, table, and dataset filling.

Configuration Effects

The following insurance data entry table illustrates data fields such as occupation category, gender, time, insurance type 1 name, premium, annual achievement rate, and policy count, which are loaded from the dataset. By configuring the filling process, you can merge the dataset table with the filling process. Fields like premium, annual achievement rate, and policy count are editable and can be quickly filled in. Dataset Filling Example

Dataset Filling

Transform dataset-sourced tables in workbooks into editable tables to insert, delete, or modify the underlying data.

Create Dataset Filling

  • To work with a dataset table, open one from the workbook list, or create a new one by clicking Dataset in the upper-right corner of the workbook page and configuring the data fields. p756092

  • Hover your cursor over the dataset table and click Filling control under Data filling, or choose Insert filling control in the upper-left corner to change the field into the appropriate type of filling control. p756097 (1)

  • When you create a new dataset table, if it's a detail table, it will automatically convert. However, if it's an aggregation table, you must convert it to a detail table to enable filling. This can be done with a one-click action in the prompt dialog box, or you can manually initiate the conversion on the dataset table field configuration page. p756099

Field Configuration

  • Once the dataset table has been transformed into a detail table, the field configuration panel will be displayed. All fields that have been dragged into the dataset will be visible on the left side of the panel. image.png

  • You can toggle between various fields. Clicking on a field that hasn't been transformed into a fill control allows for a one-click conversion. image.png

    Note

Conversion rules are as follows: numeric fields to numeric controls, date fields to date controls, and text or geographic fields to dropdown controls by default.

  • Click the image.png icon adjacent to the filling field to change the dataset filling field back to its default, non-filling status. p756104

  • Click Add field to introduce new filling fields. These fields must be linked to table fields to enable data entry into the table. For more information, see how to set the filling submission area. Function fields can also be added, functioning similarly to filling tables. p756107

  • Set parameters for the fields. Configuration of controls within dataset tables typically aligns with that of table controls. For detailed instructions, see Filling Controls.

Global Configuration

To access the global configuration panel, click on the Global configuration tab located on the left side within the field configuration. image.png

  • Filling Fields

    • Click Add field to insert new fields and toggle between control types. p756111

    • To drag fields, click image.png; to access the field configuration page, click image.png; and to remove fields, click image.png.

  • Table Style

    • You can configure the toolbar to either always be visible or to appear on hover. On the toolbar, fillers have the ability to perform operations such as Add row, Reset (to clear all data), Delete row, and Validate value. image.png

  • Select Show Wireframe for Input Box to display wireframes in cells during the filling state.

  • Opt for Preview Table Wireframe to customize the color and style of the table wireframe. Preview Table Wireframe

  • Once you're back in the dataset panel, click image.png to access the table configuration panel again. image.png

What to Do next

  • Once you have created the cell filling, you must proceed to define the submission area for the filling to map the filled data to the underlying table data. For detailed instructions, see how to set the filling submission area.
