PolarDB:Restore data from a backup set

Last Updated:Apr 12, 2024

This topic describes how to restore data from a backup set.

Usage notes

You can restore only the data of a PolarDB-X Standard Edition instance from a backup set.

To restore data from a backup set, make sure that the source instance has at least one backup set.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the PolarDB-X console.

  2. In the top navigation bar, select the region where your instance is deployed.

  3. On the Instance List page, click the PolarDB-X 2.0 tab.

  4. Find the instance that you want to manage and click the instance ID.

  5. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Data Recovery> Backup and Restoration.

  6. On the Backup and Restoration page, select the backup set that you want to restore and then click Restore.

  7. On the page that appears, configure the parameters described in the following table.

    Parameter

    Description

    Source Instance

The ID of the source instance that you want to restore. The parameter value is automatically generated. You do not need to specify this parameter.

    Source Instance Region

The region in which the source instance resides. You do not need to specify this parameter.

    Restoration Type

Set the value to Backup Set. You do not need to specify this parameter.

    Backup Set Region

The region of the available backup set. By default, the region of the backup set is the same as that of the source instance.

    Note

After you enable cross-region backup, you can select the region in which the cross-region backup set is stored.

    Backup Set

The backup set that you want to restore.

    Region

By default, the region of the instance to which you want to restore data is the same as the region of the source instance. You do not need to specify the parameter.

    Topology

The deployment of the instance to which you want to restore data. You can select Three-zone or Single-zone for this parameter. For more information about the three-zone deployment, see Overview.

    Primary Node Zone

The zone where you want to deploy the primary node.

    Secondary Node Zone

The zone where you want to deploy the secondary nodes. This parameter is valid only when the Topology parameter is set to Three-zone.

    Logger Node Zone

The zone where you want to deploy the logger nodes. This parameter is valid only when the Topology parameter is set to Three-zone.

    Network Type

Set the value to VPC. You cannot change the parameter value.

    VPC.

The Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) of the instance to which the data is restored. Make sure that the PolarDB-X 2.0 instance is created in the same VPC as the Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instance to which you want to connect. Otherwise, the instance and the ECS instance cannot communicate over the internal network to achieve optimal performance.

    Note

Before you configure the VPC parameter, make sure that a VPC and a vSwitch are created in the same region and zone as the instance to which you want to restore data. For more information, see Create and manage a VPC.

    vSwitch

The vSwitch of the instance to which you want to restore data.

    Compatibility

By default, the engine version of the instance to which you want to restore data is the same as the engine version of the source instance. You do not need to specify this parameter.

    Node Specification

The node specifications. PolarDB-X 2.0 instances are billed by using the following formula: Node specifications × Number of Nodes. You can select node specifications to configure the number of CPU cores and memory size for an instance. For more information, see Instance types.

    Nodes

By default, the number of nodes in the instance to which you want to restore data is the same as the number of nodes in the source instance. You cannot change the parameter value.

    Storage Type

By default, the storage type of the instance to which you want to restore data is the same as the storage type of the source instance. You do not need to specify this parameter.

    Storage Cost

By default, each node provides 3 TB of storage. You do not need to specify the storage capacity for each node when you create a PolarDB-X instance. If you select the pay-as-you-go billing method for your PolarDB-X instance, you are charged storage fees on an hourly basis.

    Duration

The subscription duration of the instance to which you want to restore data.

    Note

This parameter is valid only when the Product Type parameter of the source instance is set to Subscription.

    Quantity

Set the value to 1. You cannot change the parameter value.

  8. Read and select Terms of Service, and then click Buy Now.

  9. On the Confirm Order page, select PolarDB-X 2.0 (Subscription) Terms of Service and click Pay.

  10. After you complete the payment, the specified number of instances requires approximately 10 to 15 minutes to be created. After the instances are created, you can return to the Instance List page of the PolarDB-X console to view the created instances.
