This topic describes the billable items for a PolarDB cluster.

The following figure shows the approximate cost breakdown of billable items for a PolarDB cluster.

Table 1. Billing overview

Billable item

Description

Supported billing methods

Compute nodes

  • Compute nodes include primary nodes and read-only nodes.

  • The cost of compute nodes depends on the region, node specifications, and usage duration.

  • Pay-as-you-go

  • Subscription

Note

Storage space

  • You are charged for the storage space used by items such as data files, index files, log files (online logs and archived logs), and temporary files.

  • The cost of storage space depends on the data volume and storage duration.

  • Pay-as-you-go

Note
  • For more information about the billing rules for storage space, see Overview.

Backup storage space (charged only when the free quota is exceeded)

  • You are charged for backup storage space that exceeds the free quota provided by PolarDB.

  • The cost of backup storage depends on the backup size and retention period.

  • Pay-as-you-go

Note
  • Backup storage space does not support the subscription billing method. If you select Subscription when you purchase a cluster, the billing method applies only to compute nodes. Therefore, a subscription cluster may still incur other fees, such as those for backup storage space. .

  • For more information about the billing rules for data backup, see Pay-as-you-go rules.

SQL Explorer (optional)

  • SQL Explorer provides value-added services for your database, such as security audit and performance diagnostics. After you enable this feature, you are charged for the storage of audit logs.

  • The cost of SQL Explorer depends on the storage capacity and retention period of audit logs.

  • Pay-as-you-go

Note
  • SQL Explorer does not support the subscription billing method. If you select Subscription when you purchase a cluster, the billing method applies only to compute nodes. Therefore, a subscription cluster may still incur other fees, such as those for SQL Explorer.

  • For more information about the billing rules for SQL Explorer, see Billing rules for SQL Explorer (optional).
