This topic describes how to create PolarDB-X instances.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the PolarDB-X console.
  2. In the top navigation bar, select the region where the target instance is located.
  3. On the Instances page, click the PolarDB-X 2.0 tab.
  4. In the upper-right corner of the page, click Create New Instance.
  5. On the buy page, configure the parameters. The following table describes the parameters.
    Parameter Description
Product Type The billing method of the PolarDB-X instances. You can set the value to PolarDB-X 2.0 (Subscription) or PolarDB-X 2.0 (Pay-as-you-go).
    Note
    • If you select the subscription billing method, you need to pay for the resource package of the PolarDB-X instances when you purchase the instances. In most cases, this billing method is suitable for long-term usage because PolarDB-X instances that use the subscription billing method are more cost-effective than PolarDB-X instances that use the pay-as-you-go billing method.
    • If you select the pay-as-you-go billing method, you are charged for the resource usage of your PolarDB-X instances on an hourly basis. In most cases, this billing method is suitable for short-term usage. When you no longer require specific pay-as-you-go instances, you can release the instances to reduce costs.
    • If you want to create a PolarDB-X instance that uses the pay-as-you-go billing method, make sure that the balance in your Alibaba Cloud account is at least USD 100.
Region (Regions or Zones) The region where you want to deploy the instances.
    Topology
    • Single-zone Deployment: If you select this deployment mode, specify a zone for the primary nodes of the instances. The secondary nodes and logger nodes of the instances are automatically deployed in the same zone as the primary nodes.
    • Three-zone Deployment: If you select this deployment mode, specify three zones for the instances. The compute nodes, data nodes, Global Meta Service (GMS) nodes, and Change Data Capture (CDC) nodes of the instances are deployed in the zones that are specified. Three-zone instances support cross-zone disaster recovery. For more information, see Overview.
      Note

If you select Three-zone Deployment, specify different values for the Primary Node Zone parameter, Secondary Node Zone parameter, and Logger Node Zone parameter.

Primary Node Zone The zone where you want to deploy the primary nodes.
Secondary Node Zone The zone where you want to deploy the secondary nodes. This parameter is displayed only after you select Three-zone Deployment as the value of the Topology parameter.
Logger Node Zone The zone where you want to deploy the logger nodes. This parameter is displayed only after you select Three-zone Deployment as the value of the Topology parameter.
Network Type The network type is VPC. The network type cannot be changed.
Note Before you configure the VPC parameter, make sure that a virtual private cloud (VPC) and a vSwitch are created in the same region and zone as the instances that you want to create. For more information, see Create and manage a VPC.
VPC The VPC in which you want to deploy the instances. You can select an existing VPC. You can also move the pointer over the 456789 icon and click VPC console. Then, create a VPC in the VPC console.
vSwitch The vSwitch to which you want to connect the instances. You can select an existing vSwitch. You can also move the pointer over the 456789 icon and click VPC console. Then, create a vSwitch in the VPC console.
Instance Family The instance family of the instances. The instance family can be Dedicated, Dedicated Host, or General-purpose. For more information, see Instance types.
Note This parameter is unavailable if you select the pay-as-you-go billing method.
Node Specifications The number of CPU cores and the memory size of the nodes of the instances. PolarDB-X calculates the price of the instances based on the number of nodes and the specifications of the nodes. For more information, see Instance types.
Note If you select Default as the instance model, the specification of compute nodes is the same as the specification of data nodes. If you select Custom as the instance model, you can specify different specifications for compute nodes and data nodes.
    Nodes The number of nodes.
Note You can specify a value in the range from 2 to 99. If you select Default as the instance model, the number of compute nodes of each instance is the same as the number of data nodes of each instance. If you select Custom as the instance model, you can specify different values for the Nodes parameter for compute nodes and data nodes.
Storage Type The storage type of the instances. The value is set to Local SSD. The value cannot be changed.
Storage Cost By default, the storage capacity of each node in the Dedicated Host instance family is 6 TB, and the storage capacity of each node in other instance families is 3 TB. You do not need to specify a storage capacity when you purchase the instances. You are charged on an hourly basis based on your actual storage usage.
Quantity The number of instances that you want to purchase.
Subscription Duration The subscription duration of the instances.
    Note
    • This parameter is displayed only if you use the subscription billing method.
    • If you select Auto-renewal, the instance is automatically renewed before it expires.
  6. Select PolarDB-X 2.0 (Subscription) Terms of Service and click Buy Now.
  7. On the Purchase page, confirm the unpaid order and the payment method, and click Purchase.
  8. After you complete the payment, the system requires 10 to 15 minutes to create the instances. After the instances are created, you can go to the Instance List page to view the instances.
