Drive and Photo Service:File download feature

Last Updated:Oct 18, 2025

This topic describes the file download feature and its download limits.

Features

  • Concurrent downloads for multiple files: You can download up to 10 tasks at the same time.

  • Custom download speed: When you download multiple files concurrently, you can set a maximum network bandwidth to reduce the impact on your network.

  • Download retries: If a download error occurs, the system automatically retries the download to improve the task success rate.

  • Anonymous download via share links: When you access a share link, you can select the target files and specify a download method.image

    • Download files individually in a browser: All files are downloaded one by one through the browser, regardless of their size or number. The folder structure is not preserved.

    • Download files as a package in a browser: All files are downloaded as a package, regardless of their size or number. The total size of the files in the compressed package cannot exceed 10 GB.

    • Download using the desktop client: The desktop client is launched to download the files, regardless of their size or number. To view the download progress, you can right-click the Enterprise Drive icon in the status bar.

Download settings

Administrator

Log on to the Enterprise Drive Management Console with an administrator account. In the Enterprise Settings > File Settings section, you can configure the default download method for the web client. You can select one of the following four modes:

  1. Always download files individually in a browser

    1. When a user downloads files from the web client, the files are downloaded one by one in the browser, regardless of their number or size.

    2. The original folder structure is not preserved. The downloaded files are placed directly in the local destination folder.

  2. Always download multiple files as a package in a browser

    1. When a user downloads multiple files, the system automatically packages them into a compressed file in ZIP format for download through the browser.

    2. The folder structure is preserved within the compressed package.

    3. The maximum size for a single compressed package is 10 GB.

  3. Always download using the desktop client

    1. When a user clicks Download in the web client, the installed desktop client is automatically launched to handle the download.

    2. The original folder structure is preserved. This method is suitable for scenarios that require a complete folder hierarchy.

    3. The user must have the Enterprise Drive desktop client installed and be logged on.

  4. User-defined

    1. When a user clicks Download in the web client, they can manually select a download method:

      1. Download files individually in a browser

      2. Download files as a package in a browser

      3. Download using the desktop client

Regular user

Log on to Enterprise Drive as a regular user. Click your Profile Picture in the upper-right corner and select User Settings to configure file transfer settings.

1. Desktop client settings (client installation required)

  • Download location: You can customize the default save path for downloaded files.

  • Number of concurrent transfers: You can set the number of files to transfer at the same time. This setting affects the overall transfer efficiency.

  • Maximum transfer speed: You can set a speed limit to control upload or download bandwidth usage.

2. Web client settings (Web client)

  • Number of concurrent transfers: You can adjust the number of files to upload or download at the same time in the web client.

  • Shard size: You can set the file upload shard size. You can optimize transfer performance based on network stability. For example, you can use a larger shard size for large file uploads.

  • Download location: The web client does not support directly setting the download path. You can change it in your browser's download settings.

Download limits

When you download files as a package, the total size of the files in the compressed package cannot exceed 10 GB. This limit cannot be adjusted. If your files exceed this limit, you must use the desktop client to download them.

FAQ

The transfer module is unavailable

  1. Download the latest version of the Enterprise Drive client and try to download the file again. For more information, see Download the client.

  2. If you have already installed the latest version of the client, restart the client and try to download the file again.

  3. If the download still fails after you try the previous two methods, export the logs and then contact us for assistance.

Slow transfer speed

Note

If you use the web client to upload or download files, the transfer speed may be affected. To improve transfer efficiency, we recommend that you switch to the desktop client. For more information about how to install and use the client, see Download the client.

  • Slow download speed on the client

If the file download speed is slow, first confirm that the download path is a local storage folder. If it is not, switch the download location to a local path and try the download again.

  • Slow download speed from Enterprise Drive to a local machine.

    1. Go to a speed test platform to test your local network bandwidth. To ensure an accurate test, make sure that no other download tools are running in your local environment.

    2. Go to the regular user interface. Click your profile picture in the upper-right corner and choose User Settings > Network Diagnostic Tool to run a network diagnosis.

    3. After the speed test and diagnosis are complete, contact us for assistance.

Service is initializing. Please try again later.

If you encounter the following error message when you transfer data with Enterprise Drive, perform the following steps to troubleshoot the issue:

  1. Operating system requirements:

We recommend using Windows 10 or later (64-bit) or macOS 10.15 or later.

If you have an older operating system, you can try to use an older version of the client. However, to ensure full functionality, compatibility, and security, we strongly recommend that you upgrade your operating system.

  2. Check the local loopback network:

In the lower-left corner of your desktop, search for "CMD" and open the command prompt (CMD). Then, run the ping 127.0.0.1 command.

If you continuously receive valid replies, the loopback network is working correctly.

If you cannot ping the address, a problem may exist with your system or firewall configuration.

    Recommended action:

Try to temporarily disable the Windows Firewall for testing:

    1. In the lower-left corner of your desktop, search for and open "Firewall".

    2. Go to the settings page for Domain Network, Private Network, and Public Network.

    3. Turn off the firewall for each network type.

    4. Restart the Enterprise Drive client and try the file transfer operation again.

  3. Check if antivirus software is blocking the client's network access

Some security software, such as 360 Total Security, may block the network connection of the Enterprise Drive client. This can cause transfer errors or logon failures. Follow these steps to check and allow the relevant programs:

    Example using 360 Total Security:

    1. Open 360 Total Security

      • Start 360 Security Guard and go to the Network main interface.

    2. Go to the traffic firewall settings

      • In the menu bar, select Toolbox.

      • Click Traffic Firewall to go to the settings page.

    3. Find and allow network access for related processes

      • On the Traffic Firewall page, find the list of programs that are currently connecting to the network.

      • Find datatransfer.exe or Enterprise Drive.exe in the list and check their network access status.

      • If you find that these processes are blocked, click the Manage icon on the right and select Allow access to network.

  4. If the issue persists, export the logs and then contact us for assistance.

Is there a speed limit?

  1. Enterprise Drive does not limit transfer speeds. If you are using the service outside China, you can activate Global Accelerator.

  2. If you have any questions, contact us for assistance.
