Platform For AI:Overdue payments

Last Updated:Dec 19, 2025

This topic describes how overdue payments are handled for the main product modules of PAI.

Causes

An overdue payment occurs when your account balance is insufficient to cover your bills.

  • Subscription: An overdue payment occurs if the balance of the account associated with the renewal is insufficient.

  • Pay-as-you-go: An overdue payment occurs if your account balance is less than the bill for the previous billing cycle and the payment deduction fails.

Note

AI computing resource groups and Dataset Accelerator only support the subscription billing method. The pay-as-you-go billing method is not supported.

Service suspension

AI computing resource groups

If computing power nodes in an AI computing resource group expire or the renewal fails, the related features become unavailable.

  • If you renew the nodes within 24 hours of the expiration date, the related computing resources are automatically restored.

  • If you do not renew the nodes within 24 hours of the expiration date, the computing resources are released. Related tasks are suspended, and you cannot perform any further operations.

Data Science Workshop (DSW)

In Data Science Workshop (DSW), bills are generated hourly. You typically receive a bill two to three hours after you use the service.

  • If your account has an overdue payment, DSW instances are immediately stopped. The system sends a notification to the mobile phone number registered with your Alibaba Cloud account.

  • If your account has an overdue payment for more than seven days, DSW instances are automatically released. To prevent business interruptions, you must renew the instances in a timely manner.

Deep Learning Containers (DLC)

Deep Learning Containers (DLC) jobs that use public resources are pay-as-you-go and billed hourly. If your account has an overdue payment, your DLC jobs are stopped. The system sends a notification to the mobile phone number registered with your account.

Elastic Algorithm Service (EAS)

  • Subscription resource group nodes

If a resource group node expires or its renewal fails, the node is released. After the node is released, its status is updated to Stopped, and the status of EAS services that run on the node is updated to Waiting.

If you renew the node within 15 calendar days (360 hours) of the expiration date, the dedicated resource group automatically recovers the stopped node.

If you do not renew the node within 15 calendar days (360 hours) of the expiration date, the system permanently deletes the stopped node.

  • Pay-as-you-go resource groups (including pay-as-you-go nodes and public resources)

If you settle the overdue bill within 24 hours after the payment becomes overdue, the use of the resource group is not affected. Otherwise, the system suspends the use of public resources and releases pay-as-you-go nodes. After a node is released, its status is updated to Stopped, and the status of EAS services that run on the node is updated to Waiting.

If you top up your account and settle the bill within 15 calendar days (360 hours) of the payment becoming overdue, you can resume using the resource group, and the related data is retained. If you do not settle the bill within 15 calendar days (360 hours), the system permanently deletes the stopped node.

Machine Learning Designer/Dataset Accelerator

  • PAI generates bills on a T+1 basis. Bills are typically generated within four hours after the current billing cycle ends. If your account has an overdue payment, the system sends a notification to the mobile phone number registered with your Alibaba Cloud account.

  • After a payment becomes overdue, PAI services remain available for 24 hours. If the payment is overdue for more than 24 hours, your services are suspended, and you can no longer use the related features.

FeatureStore

After a payment becomes overdue, you are immediately prohibited from writing data to the FeatureDB data source. If the payment is overdue for more than three days, you are also prohibited from reading data.

Data in the FeatureDB data source is automatically released after its configured lifecycle expires.
