OpenSearch Vector Search Edition charges by instance. Each instance bill is the sum of six components: instance rental, QRS worker usage, Searcher worker usage, Searcher worker storage, index storage, and data update resources.

Billing methods
OpenSearch Vector Search Edition supports two billing methods.

Billing components
QRS workers and Searcher workers
QRS workers and Searcher workers are the two compute components in an instance.
Each worker type is available in two storage families:

| Local SSD | Index data is stored on locally attached SSDs. | Your workload has low QPS but a large number of indexes. |
| Cloud disk | Index data is stored on network-attached cloud disks, with more of the working set kept in memory. | Your workload has high QPS, or your indexes fit in memory. |
Searcher worker allocation
After purchasing Searcher workers, allocate replicas and data shards for the instance. The number of Searcher workers must be less than the number of replicas multiplied by the number of data shards.
Modify the number of replicas in the Basic Information section on the Instance Details page.
Modify the number of data shards in the Table Information section on the Table Management page.
System storage for cloud disk Searcher workers
Each cloud disk Searcher worker reserves a fixed amount of storage for system use. Local SSD Searcher workers have no reserved system storage.
