This topic describes how to switch the network type of an ApsaraDB for Memcache instance from classic network to Virtual Private Cloud (VPC).
Background information
ApsaraDB for Memcache supports two types of networks: classic network and VPC. The differences between the classic network and VPC are described below:
Classic network: Cloud services in the classic network are not isolated. Unauthorized access to a cloud service can be blocked only by the security group or whitelist of the cloud service.
VPC: A VPC is an isolated network environment on Alibaba Cloud. You can customize route tables, CIDR blocks, and gateways in a VPC. In addition, you can use a leased line or VPN to combine your self-managed data center with cloud resources in the VPC to create a virtual data center and then migrate applications to the cloud smoothly.
The network type can be switched from classic network to VPC but not from VPC to classic network. When you switch the network type from classic network to VPC network, you can choose to retain the classic network endpoint.
Prerequisites
A VPC and a vSwitch are created in the same region as the ApsaraDB for Memcache instance. For more information, see Create and manage a VPC.
Procedure
Log on to the ApsaraDB for Memcache console.
Click the ID of the desired instance.
On the right side of the Connection Information section, click Switch to VPC.
In the Switch to VPC Network panel, set the VPC Network, VSwitch, Retain the connection address of the classic network, and Retention Days parameters.
Click OK.
You can click the refresh button on the Instance Information page to view the endpoints of the classic network and VPC network.
