The visual modeling platform plug-in uses instances as basic units to manage datasets,
submit training tasks, and deploy models. Before you perform training, an instance
must be created. The visual modeling platform plug-in allows you to create instances
from templates or manually create instances. This topic describes how to use the two
methods to create instances.
Create an instance from a template
- Go to the Computer Vision Model Training page.
- Log on to the Machine Learning Platform for AI (PAI) console.
- In the left-side navigation pane, choose .
- On the Computer Vision Model Training page, select one of the following types of instances based on your requirements.
- In the Image Classification section, click Create an instance.
- In the Object Detection section, click Create an instance.
- In the OCR section, click Create an instance.
- In the Create an instance panel, set the parameters.

The type of instance that you want to create. Machine Learning Platform for AI (PAI)
automatically enters the value. No manual configuration is required.

The name of the instance. The name must be 1 to 30 characters in length and can contain
underscores (_) and hyphens (-). It must start with a letter or digit.

Description |
The description of the instance. To facilitate identification, we recommend that you
enter the description based on your business requirements.

- Click Confirm.
Manually create an instance
- Go to the Computer Vision Model Training page.
- Log on to the Machine Learning Platform for AI (PAI) console.
- In the left-side navigation pane, choose .
- On the Computer Vision Model Training page, click Create an instance.
- In the Create an instance panel, set the parameters.
