ApsaraVideo Live:Verify domain ownership

Last Updated:Dec 02, 2025

When you add a domain name to ApsaraVideo Live for the first time, you are required to verify its ownership. This topic describes how to verify the domain ownership by using a DNS record or a verification file.

Background

Successful verification confirms that you own the domain. Once a domain is verified, you will not need to repeat the verification process when adding the same domain or its subdomains in the ApsaraVideo Live console.

ApsaraVideo Live provides two methods for verification: DNS record and file verification. You only need to complete one of them. This topic uses example.com as an example to guide you through the verification process.

Method 1: Use a DNS record (recommended)

When you add a new domain name to ApsaraVideo Live, you can add a DNS record to prove that you own the domain name.

  1. Obtain the record type, hostname, and record value.

    1. Log on to the ApsaraVideo Live console.

    2. In the left navigation pane, choose Domain Names. Click Add Domain Name. For a new domain name, the system provides a TXT record. Record the record type, hostname, and record value, which are needed in subsequent steps.

  2. Add a DNS record.

    Note

Domain verification and TXT records can only be configured on the root domain.

    1. Go to the Public Zone page in the Alibaba Cloud DNS console.

Alibaba Cloud DNS is used as an example. You can add a record at other DNS providers such as DNSPod in a similar way.

    2. Find the target domain name and click Settings in the Actions column.

Return to the ApsaraVideo Live console. Click Verify.

Method 2: Upload a verification file

When you add a domain name to ApsaraVideo Live, you can upload a verification file to prove that you own the domain name.

  1. Log on to the ApsaraVideo Live console.

  2. In the left navigation pane, choose Domain Names. Click Add Domain Name. To verify a new domain name, click Method 2: Verification File to get a verification file.

  3. Download the verification.html file.

  4. Upload the verification file to the root directory of your origin server, such as an Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instance, an Object Storage Service (OSS) bucket, a Cloud Virtual Machine (CVM) instance, a Container-Optimized OS (COS) instance, or an Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) instance.

  5. Make sure that the verification file is accessible. ApsaraVideo Live will access the origin server at http://example.com/verification.html to obtain the verification file and determine whether you have uploaded the verification file as required.

  6. Click Verify.
