ApsaraVideo Live offers cost-effective resource plans. You can purchase data transfer plans and transcoding plans based on your business needs. You can also view details about your purchased plans, such as the remaining quota, effective time, and expiration time, in the Expenses and Costs console.
Resource plan types
Resource plan | Description | Billable items offset |
Live data transfer plan |
Note We recommend the general-purpose plan. It offers broader coverage and is more cost-effective. | |
Live transcoding duration plan | Used only to offset the duration of the following H.264 Narrowband HD™ transcoding based on different offset ratios for output definitions.
Example: Transcoding one hour of SD video consumes two hours from your plan. It does not support other transcoding types, such as standard transcoding, audio-only transcoding, and H.265 transcoding. |

Notes
Regular data transfer plans are region-specific. A plan for a specific region cannot be used to offset usage in other regions.
Resource plans take effect immediately after purchase. If a valid plan is available, it is automatically used to offset fees. You can purchase multiple resource plans. Plans of the same type are consumed in order of expiration, with the one expiring soonest used first.
After the quota of a resource plan is used up, any further usage is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.
A resource plan is valid for its subscription duration. You must use the plan within this period. Any unused quota in an expired plan is forfeited. The validity periods of multiple plans of the same type are calculated independently and do not accumulate.
You can receive a full refund for a resource plan within five days (5 × 24 hours) of purchase if it has not been used. The five-day period begins when the product is activated. Cancellation and refunds are not available for used resource plans or for expired plans that have a remaining quota.
Live data transfer plan
Two types are available: General-purpose and Standard.
The general-purpose data transfer plan can be used for all services covered by the regular data transfer plan and more. It also has no region restrictions and is more cost-effective.
General-purpose data transfer plan
This solution reduces the cost of managing resource plans and includes the following features:
It can be used to offset traffic for standard live streaming, RTS.
A single plan can be used for all regions outside the Chinese mainland, including China (Hong Kong), Macao (China), and Taiwan (China). This eliminates the need to purchase separate regional plans.
Usage from different service types (standard live streaming and RTS) and regions (the Chinese mainland, and regions outside the Chinese mainland including China (Hong Kong), Macao (China), and Taiwan (China)) is deducted from your plan based on specific ratios.
Resource plan types
Global: Recommended if your business operates only in the Chinese mainland or operates globally, including in the Chinese mainland.
Global (excluding the Chinese mainland): This plan is designed for businesses that operate globally but not in the Chinese mainland. It cannot be used to offset usage in the Chinese mainland. This plan is recommended if your live streaming business operates only in regions outside the Chinese mainland, such as China (Hong Kong), Macao (China), and Taiwan (China).

Both specifications can be used to offset traffic outside the Chinese mainland. The effective per-GB price is the same after conversion.
Scope of offset
Standard streaming: Offsets playback traffic that uses protocols such as RTMP, FLV, and HLS.
RTS: Refers to the traffic generated when end users pull streams using RTS (artc://).

Offset coefficients
Offset ratio | The Chinese mainland | Regions outside the Chinese mainland, including China (Hong Kong), Macao (China), and Taiwan (China) |
Standard live streaming | 1 | 2.7 |
Real-Time Streaming (RTS) | 1.5 | 3.7 |
Formula:
Consumed plan quota = Actual usage × Offset coefficient
Example:
A customer purchases a 500 GB global data transfer plan and uses 10 GB of standard traffic and 10 GB of RTS traffic in the Chinese mainland. The customer also uses 10 GB of standard traffic and 10 GB of RTS traffic in regions outside the Chinese mainland, including China (Hong Kong), Macao (China), and Taiwan (China).
The remaining data transfer is calculated as follows: 500 GB - 10 GB × 1 - 10 GB × 1.5 - 10 GB × 2.7 - 10 GB × 3.7 = 411 GB.

Offset coefficients
Offset ratio | Global (excluding the Chinese mainland) |
Standard live streaming | 1 |
Ultra-Low-Latency Live Streaming | 1.4 |
Formula:
Consumed plan quota = Actual usage × Offset coefficient
Example:
A customer purchases a 500 GB global data transfer plan (excluding the Chinese mainland) and uses 10 GB of standard traffic and 10 GB of RTS traffic in the Chinese mainland. This usage cannot be offset. The remaining data transfer is 500 GB.
A customer purchases a 500 GB global data transfer plan (excluding the Chinese mainland) and uses 10 GB of standard traffic and 10 GB of RTS traffic in regions outside the Chinese mainland, including China (Hong Kong), Macao (China), and Taiwan (China). This usage can be offset based on the coefficients. The remaining data transfer is calculated as follows: 500 GB - 10 GB × 1 - 10 GB × 1.4 = 476 GB.
Regular data transfer plan
This plan is used to offset downstream playback traffic for standard live streaming scenarios. It does not support RTS traffic.
ApsaraVideo Live provides eight region-specific data transfer plans. Each plan can offset traffic usage only within its designated region. For example, a plan purchased for the Chinese mainland cannot be used to offset traffic in Asia Pacific 1.

Calculation example
A customer purchases a 500 GB regular data transfer plan for the Chinese mainland. The customer uses 10 GB of standard streaming traffic and 10 GB of RTS traffic in Asia Pacific 1, and 10 GB of RTS traffic in the Chinese mainland. This usage cannot be offset. The remaining balance is 500 GB.
A customer purchases a 500 GB regular data transfer plan for the Chinese mainland and uses 10 GB of standard streaming traffic in the Chinese mainland. This usage can be offset. The remaining balance is 500 GB - 10 GB = 490 GB.
Choose a resource plan
Compared to a region-specific regular plan, a general-purpose plan can be used to offset traffic for standard live streaming and RTS across all regions. When you choose a general-purpose data transfer plan, make sure to purchase a plan with enough data transfer to cover your total business needs.
Example 1:
A customer previously purchased the following plans based on their business needs:
Regular data transfer plan: 500 GB for the Chinese mainland × 1
Regular data transfer plan: 500 GB for Europe × 1
Regular data transfer plan: 500 GB for South America × 1
This is calculated based on the global deduction ratio for the general-purpose Live Streaming Data Transfer Plan.
500 GB × 1 + 500 GB × 2.7 + 500 GB × 2.7 = 500 GB + 1,350 GB + 1,350 GB = 3,200 GB
To cover these business needs, the customer can purchase a 3,200 GB global general-purpose data transfer plan.
Example 2:
A customer previously purchased the following plans based on their business needs:
Regular data transfer plan: 500 GB for the Chinese mainland × 1
Regular data transfer plan: 500 GB for Europe × 1
Regular data transfer plan: 500 GB for South America × 1
The following were also generated during the epoch:
500 GB of RTS traffic in the Chinese mainland
500 GB of RTS traffic in Europe
500 GB of RTS traffic in South America
This value is calculated based on the deduction ratio of the Global General-purpose Live Streaming Data Transfer Plan.
500 GB × 1 + 500 GB × 2.7 + 500 GB × 2.7 + 500 GB × 1.5 + 500 GB × 3.7 + 500 GB × 3.7 = 500 GB + 1,350 GB + 1,350 GB + 750 GB + 1,850 GB + 1,850 GB = 7,650 GB
To cover these business needs, the customer can purchase a 7,650 GB global general-purpose data transfer plan.
