ApsaraVideo Live:Billing of live stream recording

Last Updated:Dec 16, 2025

This topic introduces the billing rules of live stream recording.

Overview

The costs for live stream recording consists of two components: monthly recording service fee and container format conversion fee.

  • Monthly recording service fee: Charged based on the peak number of daily concurrent recorded streams in a month.

  • Container format conversion fee: By default, live streams are recorded as TS files. To store them in other formats, such as MP4 or FLV, a container format conversion fee applies based on the recording duration. The fee depends on the storage destination:

    • Recording to Object Storage Service (OSS)

Charged based on the total duration of the recorded files in minutes. The fee is included in your ApsaraVideo Live bill. For more information, see Container format conversion fee.

    • Recording to ApsaraVideo VOD

Charged based on the total duration of the recorded files in minutes. The fee is included in your ApsaraVideo VOD bill. For more information, see Media transcoding.

Note
  • The recording feature is available for commercial use and begins to charge fees from October 1, 2022. To avoid fees, delete your recording templates before this date if you no longer need this feature. If you delete a template while a stream is active, the system continues to record the stream using the old template. This change takes effect on the next stream ingestion.

  • Actual costs are subject to the prices listed on the ApsaraVideo Live pricing page.
