To use ApsaraVideo Live, you must first activate the service. This topic describes how to activate the service, select a billing method, and purchase a resource plan.
Background information
ApsaraVideo Live is an audio and video live streaming platform built on advanced content ingestion, content delivery networks, and large-scale distributed real-time transcoding technology. It provides easy-to-use, high-definition, smooth, ultra-low latency, and high-concurrency live streaming services. For more information, see What is ApsaraVideo Live?.
Prerequisites
An Alibaba Cloud account is created and identity verification is complete. To create an Alibaba Cloud account, visit the Alibaba Cloud official website. For more information, see Create an Alibaba Cloud account.
Activate service
Log in to the ApsaraVideo Live product page and click Buy Now to go to the activation page.

Click Activate to go to the ApsaraVideo Live purchase page.
This page compares Standard live streaming and Real-Time Streaming (RTS). Standard live streaming has a latency of ≥3s, supports the RTMP, HLS, and FLV protocols, and is enabled by default after activation. Real-Time Streaming (RTS) has a latency of ≤1s, supports the ARTC (WebRTC) protocol, and requires you to add and configure a streaming domain after you activate ApsaraVideo Live.

On the ApsaraVideo Live purchase page, select a billing method: pay-by-data-transfer. For more information, see Standard live streaming pricing.

Read and agree to the Terms of Service and Service Level Agreement, then click Activate Now to finish the activation.
Purchase service
ApsaraVideo Live supports two billing methods: pay-as-you-go and prepaid resource plans.

Pay-as-you-go: You are billed based on actual usage of each billable item. No upfront payment is required.

Resource plans: Prepaid quotas at discounted rates for specific billable items. During settlement, usage is deducted from resource plans first. Resource Plan Pricing.

Resource plans offer lower rates than pay-as-you-go billing.

Usage that exceeds your resource plan quota is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis. We recommend that you select a plan that matches your expected usage.

ApsaraVideo Live bills may be delayed by 3 to 4 hours.
Purchase a resource plan
Log in to the Alibaba Cloud official website. In the top navigation bar, choose .
On the ApsaraVideo Live product details page, click Resource Plans to open the purchase page.

On the purchase page, select a resource plan type, configure the specifications, and then click Buy Now.
