Lindorm:Enable auto-renewal

Last Updated:Oct 17, 2023

After you enable auto-renewal for your subscription Lindorm instances, you do not need to manually renew the instances on a regular basis. This helps you reduce management costs, and prevents service interruptions for the Lindorm instances. If your subscription instances do not require auto-renewal, you can disable auto-renewal for the instances. This topic describes how to enable auto-renewal for a subscription Lindorm instance.

Prerequisites

The billing method of your Lindorm instance is subscription.

Usage notes

  • After you enable auto-renewal for a Lindorm instance, the system deducts fees from your Alibaba Cloud account for the first time three days before the instance expires. If the deduction fails, the system attempts to deduct the fees on the last day before the instance expires, the day on which the instance expires, the sixth day after the instance expires, and the fourteenth day after the instance expires. If the automatic renewal does not succeed before the instance expires, manually renew the subscription of your instance to avoid data loss. Make sure that the balance of your Alibaba Cloud account is sufficient to prevent renewal failures.

  • If you manually renew a Lindorm instance before the automatic renewal is performed, automatic renewal is not performed within the current billing cycle and will be performed before the instance expires in the next billing cycle.

  • Auto-renewal takes effect the next day after it is enabled. If your subscription instance is about to expire the next day, renew it manually to avoid service interruptions. For more information, see Manually renew a subscription instance.

  • If you change the resources before the renewal order takes effect, you can unsubscribe from only the resources. In this case, you cannot cancel the resource renewal order.

  • If the deduction fails, the system sends a notification message to the mobile phone number and email address that are bound to your Alibaba Cloud account. Check the notification message and renew your instance at the earliest opportunity to prevent service interruptions that are caused by the downtime of the instance.

Methods that are used to enable auto-renewal

You can use one of the following methods to enable auto-renewal:

Enable auto-renewal when you create an instance

Note

You can enable auto-renewal when you purchase a Lindorm instance. In this case, the system automatically renews the instance. The renewal cycle is the same as the subscription duration that you specify for the instance. For example, if you set the subscription duration of an instance to three months and enable auto-renewal for the instance, the system automatically renews the instance for an additional month before the instance expires three months later.

When you create a subscription Lindorm instance, specify Subscription Length and select Auto-renewal. This way, the system can automatically renew the Lindorm instance before the Lindorm instance expires. The following figure shows an example.
